The STRODE Project explores the relationship between sound and the body through the creation of new, cross-genre compositions. Directed by Dr. Matthew Noone and Professor Mel Mercier, the project incorporates elements of Javanese gamelan, contemporary dance, North Indian classical music and electroacoustic composition. The STRODE Project is part of Dr. Noone’s Irish Research Council postdoctoral fellowship at the Irish World Academy and this performance is the first public dissemination of his ongoing research into new composition for the North Indian sarode.
Performed by Kevin McNally, Bianca Figl, Claire O’Brien, Cormac Byrne, Deanna McDonagh, Niamh Delaney, Matthew Noone and Mel Mercier.
